Other Individual Archives

The archive arrived in 1987, after being bequeathed by the Prague-born painter Charlotte Radnitz, known as Lotte Frumi (1899-1986), who had moved to Venice from the Paris of Utrillo and the Montparnasse artists in 1929, following her marriage to Guido Ehrenfreund (who Italianised his surname into Frumi). The couple were subsequently always in contact with various cosmopolitan intellectuals, especially Middle Europeans. The collection includes six letters from Guido Frumi to D'Annunzio, six publications by D'Annunzio with an autograph dedication to Frumi and six of the poet's proclamations, also with autograph signatures. All these documents are related to the Fiume venture and therefore from the years 1917-1920, when D'Annunzio had met and frequented the Frumi couple in Venice. The archive also contains nine drawings, including five signed "Frumi".
