The archive of Titina Rota (Milan, 15 June 1899 - Rome, 1978) contains fashion plates, sketches and paintings produced by the artist during her career as illustrator and costume designer for theatre and cinema. One of the most interesting figures of twentieth-century Italian theatre, Titina Rota worked with film directors such as Vladimir Nemirovič-Dančenko, Carmine Gallone, Tatiana Pavlova, Max Reinhardt and Guido Salvini. In 1942 she edited the weekly magazine «Grazia» and between 1945 and 1946 wrote the columns Sirene d'Ottocento and Pensieri di una donna stupida, published in the periodical «L'Illustrazione Italiana». The materials that make up the archive were donated to the Istituto per il Teatro e il Melodramma in 2014 by Martina Vergani.
