Consultation of the archival material is possible only by prior request for an appointment, to be sent to the above addresses.
For consultation of the volumes belonging to the personal libraries (AMOM, EPOV, GPOL, LSQU, MAL, MILL, PSAM, ROL), the authorization request has to arrive at least three working days before the date of the consultation.
In any case, the request has to be justified and it must contain explicit reference to the research that is taking place and the institution / University to which you are working.
The archive of Arrigo Boito (Padua, 24 February 1842 - Milan, 10 June 1918) is currently held in Venice at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, divided between the Istituto per il Teatro e il Melodramma and the Istituto per la Musica, and in Parma at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito.
Since 2018, the National Committee for the celebration of the centenary of the death of Arrigo Boito aimed to digitally reconstruct the archive of documents of the intellectual, composer and writer. The first outcomes of the project, still in progress, are available on: http://www.arrigoboito.it/archivio_digitale
The documents held at the Istituto per il Teatro e il Melodramma are gathered together in the series "Scritti". Among them there are numerous manuscript outlines, which were found among Piero Nardi's documents, for the libretti of the operas Nerone, Ero e Leandro, Basi e Bote, Semira and the rewriting of the story Il trapezio, along with some nineteenth-century volumes from the library of the Latin writers.
To the same Carandini Albertini's donation belongs the correspondence between the author and Eleonora Duse which has been included into Duse Archive, according to the will of the donor.
In 2018, among the activities planned by the National Committee, the Istituto organized the International Conference «Ecco il mondo»: Arrigo Boito, il futuro nel passato e il passato nel futuro (Fondazione Giorgio Cini, 13-15 November 2018) attended by scholars and specialists in the different artistic fields of the famous intellectual's career.
The following year the volum with the same name curated by da Maria Ida Biggi, Emanuele d'Angelo e Michele Girardi (Marsilio, Venezia 2019) was published: a collection of the most interesting and up to date papers from this conference and from the day of study Due veneti nel mondo: Faccio Boito, un «Amleto» di più, organized in Verona among the activities of the Committee.
The room of Eleonora Duse of the Istituto per il Teatro e il Melodramma has also hosted the exhibitions Eleonora Duse e Arrigo Boito (23 November 2017 - 20 December 2018) and "Creatura - Va' - Vivi nel tuo raggio". Antonio e Cleopatra di Eleonora Duse e Arrigo Boito (30 January - 18 December 2020).
